Join us on April 8th for an anti-colonial and feminist evening of celebration of struggles for the defence of territories, as part of the Des-terres-minées project. Faced with manifestations of the colonialist model, with extractive companies, with the Petapan treaty project, with cultural genocide, with disappearing and assassination, and rape and abuse of autochthon women, resistance is growing everything. From Standing Rock to Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam and through Elsopigtog, against the dispossession of land!
Projection of video-clips, exchanges, and discussions, both on the struggles fought in the past and those which are still happening today – and those that are to come.

Nous aurons la chance d'avoir avec nous:
- Suzanne Patles, une Warrior Mi'kmaq qui lutte contre la fracturation et qui a été arrêtée et incarcérée lors de la lutte contre l’exploration du gaz de schiste par « SWN Resources Canada » à Elsipogtog (Nouveau-Brunswick).
- Jeannette Pilot, qui se bat depuis des années face à Hydro-Québec, dénonçant cette entreprise d'Etat comme une complice coloniale. Malgré les barreaux qui tentent de la faire taire, elle poursuit son combat affirmant que tout le système doit tomber afin d'en rebâtir un nouveau.

- Entrevue vidéo avec Kanahus Manuel, activiste Secwepemc et Ktunaxa qui se bat pour la défense du territoire en Colombie-Britannique, notamment aujourd’hui face au pipeline Kinder Morgan. Elle est mère de quatre "Freedom Babies", enfants élevés dans l'esprit de la décolonisation et libres des règlements du gouvernement canadien.

DES-TERRES-MINEES: lors d'une tournée au printemps 2016 dans différentes régions de ce qu'on appelle le Québec, le projet a recueilli des témoignagnes de femmes et de toute autre personne vivant une oppression basée sur le genre et ce, autour de leurs visions du(es) territoire(s) et des résistances déployées pour faire face aux tentaculaires projets extractifs qui ne cessent de se développer ici et ailleurs.
Le territoire, c’est sacré, Mashteuiatsh (4:35)
Les Ilnu.es n’ont jamais cédé leur territoire par voie de traité. Aujourd’hui, une lutte est en cours face à l’éventualité de la signature du traité Petapan entre les gouvernements fédéral et provincial et les conseils de bande de Mashteuiatsh, Essipit et Nutashquan. Cette capsule anonymisée réalisée à Mashteuiatsh témoigne de l’aberration de ce traité colonial qui signifierait perte de droits ancestraux et du territoire, le Nitassinan.

Entre deux conceptions du territoire qui s'affrontent, Pascale-Josée Binette nous partage une partie de son histoire, celle d'un peuple pourchassé, dénudé de tout droit d'exister.

La forêt, nécessité vitale et poésie; la forêt, vulgaire marchandise exploitée. Déchirures des coupes à blanc sur les animaux qui s'éloignent ou disparaissent. Dégâts des barrages hydro-électriques comme le barrage…
Territoires en bataille (5:44)
A Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam, une bataille s'est livrée contre Hydro-Québec qui voulait installer des pilonnes sur le territoire ancestral pour acheminer l'électricité issue de la Romaine, un barrage hydro-électrique qui a dévasté le Nitassinan. Les femmes de la communauté se sont levées contre, notamment en organisant des blocus de route pour défendre leurs terres. Elles ont dû faire face à trois référendums successifs du conseil de bande, à la répression et la criminalisation. Dans cette capsule, Lise Jourdain, Ilnue de la communauté qui a participé à cette lutte, nous raconte le combat que ces femmes inspirantes ont mené.
Déracinement (4:07)
Malartic, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, ville reconfigurée par un quartier entièrement déplacé, rythmé à la cadence de l'industrie minière. Un mur, d'un côté une mine d'or à ciel ouvert en pleine expansion, de l'autre des habitant.es, barrière physique opposant la vie à l'économie. Anonyme, ce témoignage nous livre un portrait de son vécu, son senti et celui de bien d'autres.

Suzanne Patles, a Mi’kmag warrior who fights against fracking, and who was arrested and incarcerated during the struggle against the exploration of shale gas by “SWN Resources Canada” in Elsipogtog (New Brunswick).
Jeannette Pilot, who has been fighting for years against Hydro-Québec, denouncing this state company as a colonialist accomplice. Despite the forces that try to silence her, she continues her fight in affirming that the entire system must fall in order to rebuild anew.

DES-TERRES-MINEES: during a tour of different regions within so-called Québec during Spring 2016, the project collected testimonies from women and from all people living gender-based oppression concerning their visions of territory and their use of resistance to cope with the sprawling extractive projects which ceaselessly expand here and elsewhere.

The Ilnu have never ceded their land by means of a treaty. Today, a battle is occurring due to the eventuality of the signing of the Petapan treaty between the provincial and federal governments and the band council of Mashteuiatsh, Essipit and Nutashquan. This anonymised video clip, made in Mashteuiatsh, bears witness to the aberration of this colonial treaty which would signify the loss of the ancestral rights and of the territory, the Nitassinan.

Territoires en bataille (5:44)
In Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam, a battle was launched against Hydro-Québec who wanted to install pylons on ancestral territory in order to transport electricity sourced from Romania, and a hydro-electric dam which devastated Nitassinan. Women of the community rose up against it, notably in organising roadblocks to defend their territory. They not only had to face three successive referendums from the band council, but repression and criminalisation also. In this video clip, Lise Jourdain, an Ilnu within the community that participated in this battle, recounts the struggle that these inspiring women led.
Déracinement (4:07)
Malartic, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, a city reconfigured as a result of a completely displaced region – to the beat of the mining industry’s drum. A wall: an open-air gold mine in full expansion to one side, inhabitants to the other. A physical barrier shows the opposition between life and the economy. Anonymous, this testimony gives us a portrait of their experience, their feeling and their thoughts about the good of others.
